RED LION PUB

Oakhanger

When we first visited The Red Lion in Oakhanger, it was boarded over and unused. The village pub had fallen into disrepair and the village had lost one of its focal points. Working with our client, CY Homes, the local action group and the planning consultant we developed a design to extend and refurbish the existing public house and at the same time provide 4 new houses in an underused area of the pub garden.

Internally the public house has been reconfigured, opening up spaces but respecting the heritage of the building which added so much to its character. The once dark and tired public house now feels inviting and is filled with natural light. The vaulted extensions to the rear provides a dedicated dining area where contemporary elements blends with heritage.
